JPG to PNG converter

Convert JPG photos to PNG for editing, or when a tool asks for a lossless file. Files stay on your device, never uploaded.

How to convert JPG to PNG online

  1. Add your JPG files

Drop JPG files into the box, choose them from your device, or paste them from your clipboard. You can add hundreds at once.

  2. Convert JPG to PNG privately on your device

Each JPG is decoded on your device and saved as a PNG that keeps every pixel exactly as it is.

  3. Download your PNG files

Save each file on its own, or take them all in one ZIP. Your files stay private: they never leave your device, so there is no upload to wait for.

Why convert JPG to PNG?

A JPG loses a little more detail every time it is edited and saved again. PNG is lossless, so once a photo is a PNG, later edits and saves leave it exactly as it is. That makes PNG a safer file to work on in an editor, and some design tools and upload forms ask for it.

Converting does not bring back detail the JPG already lost, and a PNG of a photo is several times larger. Use PNG for editing and graphics, and keep the JPG for sharing and posting photos.

Questions about converting JPG to PNG

Will the PNG look better than my JPG?

No. It looks the same, because the detail the JPG discarded can't be restored. What changes is that further edits won't lose any more.

Why is the PNG so much bigger?

PNG stores every pixel exactly, while JPG throws detail away to save space. A photo saved as PNG is usually several times larger than the same photo as a JPG.

Can I get a transparent background?

No. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps its solid background. Cut the subject out in an image editor if you need a see-through background.

When should I use PNG instead of JPG?

Use PNG for editing, screenshots, logos and anything with sharp lines or transparency, because it loses nothing when saved again. Use JPG for photos you share, post or email, because the file is far smaller.

Are my JPG files private?

Yes. Sanil.app converts your JPG files on your device, so they are never uploaded and never reach a server. They stay yours.
